Recycling

Salford has a free door-to-door collection service for your recycling.

Your recycling service is changing! Please note a new and improved recycling service is being rolled out across the city from October 2007 please read on to find out more!.

The big recycle roll out!

The changes to the service will help us to increase the amount of recycling we do in our city and reduce the amount of rubbish sent to landfill. Sending materials that could be recycled to landfill is a waste of resources, contributes to climate change and is very costly.

We want to make Salford a sustainable city!

The big recycle roll out

What this means for you

To help you play your part and recycle more we are improving the provision of recycling containers and increasing the materials that can be recycled.

You will receive two new wheeled bins to replace your existing recycling containers. Your green box will be replaced with a brown bin and your bag for paper will be replaced with a blue bin.

Please take a look at the materials that you can now recycle in the various bins provided.

Collection times

  • Your blue and brown bins will be collected on a weekly rotation at the same time as your black bin.
  • Black bin (general waste)  – weekly as usual
  • Blue bin (paper and card) – fortnightly with your general waste
  • Brown bin (bottles, cans and plastics) – fortnightly with your general waste
  • Pink lidded bin if you have a garden (garden waste) – fortnightly as usual

All you need to do is fill the bins with the appropriate materials and put them out on the relevant dates.
