Recycling

Waste Awareness Officers with the blue and brown recycling binsSalford City Council has recently introduced a new recycling collection service to help you recycle more of your waste.

Residents across Salford started to receive their new recycling bins in 2007 and we are pleased to announce that the rollout has now been completed to all households.

We will soon be starting the rollout to high-rise and low-rise flats across Salford, look out for more information on this coming soon!

Collection times

  • Your blue and brown bins will be collected on a weekly rotation on the same day as your black bin (download a calendar below to find out the dates)
  • Black bin (general waste) – will be collected weekly as usual
  • Pink lidded bin if you have a garden (garden waste) – will be collected on either a Monday or Saturday every fortnight

All you need to do is fill the bins with the appropriate materials and put them out on the relevant dates. Please take a look at the materials that you can recycle in the various bins provided.

Points to remember!

  • Leave your bins out for collection before 6.30am. Do not put your bin out before 7.00pm the night before collection
  • All bin lids must be closed
  • All waste must be contained within the wheeled bins
  • Additional side waste will not be collected
  • To maximise the capacity of your bin break up and flatten any recyclables or waste when possible
  • Additional blue and brown bins are available if required
