When will the new service be rolled out in my area?
Delays on the rollout of your new recycling service
A new recycling service has now been introduced to the following areas in the city:
- Irlam and Cadishead (see Tuesday calendar below)
- Broughton, Kersal and Pendleton (see Wednesday calendar below)
- Eccles, Barton and Winton (see Thursday calendar below)
- Boothstown, Worsley and Swinton South (see Friday calendar below)
Unfortunately, there are delays in rolling it out to the remaining areas of the city:
- Little Hulton and Walkden
- Ordsall, Langworthy and Blackfriars
- Weaste and Claremont
- Pendlebury and Swinton North
We apologise for any inconvenience this is causing.
Why is there a delay?
There is currently a national shortage of the new recycling bins. This means that suppliers have not been able to provide us with them within the original time scales.
We will endeavour to deliver the recycling bins to the remaining households as soon as we take delivery of them.
How can I recycle in the meantime?
Until you receive your new bins you can continue to recycle cans and plastic and glass bottles in your green box and paper products in your white sack.
Alternatively, you can take your recyclables to any of our bring-sites around Salford.
Councillor Keith Mann, Salford City Council's lead member for environment, said:
“We apologise for this delay, which, frustratingly, is due to circumstances beyond our control. I can assure you that we are doing our utmost to get the bins we need to speed ahead with the roll out.
If you have already taken delivery of the new bins I wish to thank you for all your efforts. In these areas recycling is up by as much as 400 per cent on last year - an enormous achievement.”
Need additional information?
If you want to find our more about recycling, to order recycling containers or to find information about your nearest bring-site, call our Customer Contact Centre on 0161 909 6500.
Please note: The details above refer to the service provided to houses in Salford. A new service for flats will be launched soon.
