What can I recycle?
There are lots of items you can recycle easily using your blue and brown bins and there are reasons why you can't recycle everything too. So we have put together a list as a quick guide, but there is more detail about recycling in the frequently asked questions if you need more information!
Do not put your recyclable items into plastic bags, put them directly into your bin.

By making full use of the blue and brown bins we provide to recycle both pulpable (blue bin) and "dry" materials (brown bin).
Salford City Council has also launched a Garden waste recycling scheme for houses throughout the city.
Also recycling facilities are available, on site, for both high-rise and low-rise flats within Salford. For more information please ring our Call Centre on 909 6500 or email environment@salford.gov.uk.
For further ideas on recycling, why not check out Freecycle. This group have been set up to encourage people to look at alternatives to recycling by matching their unwanted items with people who may be looking for that particular item. Its fun and its free and a group exists in Salford - check it out!
