Road gritting
Salford City Council carries out a regular winter road gritting programme. Work is organised according to a defined schedule of priority highways that need to be gritted.
The service consists of five scheduled routes maintaining 300km of highways in the city. The salt tonnage used each year varies according to weather patterns; the amount of salt used in 2007/8 was 2,000 tonnes covering over 25,000 km of roadway.
If you would like more information on the road gritting programme or a copy of the priority schedule, please call 0161-909 6500 or email environment@salford.gov.uk.
Alternatively, if you would like to request a particular road to be considered for inclusion on the gritting programme please call Urban Vision on 0161 779 4800.
