Gully emptying
Salford's Highway Services team provides a service of routine ditch and gully emptying. This means that each of the council's 52,624 gullies will be cleansed at least once per year. It also provides a reactive service, which is available to cleanse gullies on a priority basis when flooding is occurring.
However, problems can occur even when the gullies are clean and well maintained. For example, it isn't unusual for some roads to flood when the amount of water on the road is greater than the capacity of the drainage in the area, perhaps during and after a heavy rainstorm.
If you notice a blocked gully or flooded road please report it to us - visit our online reporting service!
