The Children's Traffic Club

Children's Traffic Club

Good news! The Children's Traffic Club is now FREE to the whole city!

Due to the success of the club we can now offer free membership to all 3 year olds in Salford. Up until recently we could only offer free membership to residents in parts of the city where child road casualties are higher. But we have succeeded in our bid to receive government funding to help all areas of our city- which is good news for every parent.

What is the Children's Traffic Club?

The Children's Traffic Club is a book club which helps develop your child's road safety awareness so that they can stay safe when they are out walking, playing or travelling by car.

It aims to help reduce the large number of children who get hurt on our roads.
The club is a story-based club for 3 year olds and their parents to read together.
It's fun and easy to join.

What the club offers:-

  • Members get six story books along with a parents hints & tips guide.
  • A CD audio recording of all six books and songs.
  • The first book and CD arrives soon after you register your child.
  • The rest of the books will follow automatically once a month.
  • As a member, your child can take part in free competitions to win some great prizes.
  • Members can get other club items - such as T-shirt, balloons, stickers, story books, colouring books, height charts, wall friezes, and song and story tapes at special low prices.

How much does it cost?

Membership is now FREE to every 3 year old in the city.

How can I join?

To join, you must complete a registration form which you will receive around your child's third birthday. If you have not yet received a form you can pick one up from your local:-

  • Nursery
  • Playgroup
  • Sure Start Early Years Centre
  • Health Visitor

Or contact the Road Safety team and we'll post a registration form to you!

How can nurseries and playgroups take part?

There is an Early Years toolkit available for use in nurseries and playgroups which promotes and supports the book club.
