What is a Travel Plan?

A Travel Plan is the means by which Salford City Council will manage journeys related to the operation of our business in a manner that reduces social and environmental impact and economic cost. It can consist of a single initiative such as car sharing, or it may use a co-ordinated package of measures to encourage different ways of travelling.
Our Travel Plan will address a range of journeys such as:
- Staff commuting
- Business trips
- Visitor and client visits
There are three ways we can manage our transport impacts:
- Improve the quality of non-car modes of transport
- Provide disincentives to the use of the car or
- A combination of both of these.
