Operation Brocade
What is Operation Brocade?
This is a partnership operation targeting the ‘hotspots’ across the city that attract groups of young people on weekend evenings. The focus of the operation is on safeguarding the wellbeing of young people as well as on preventing and tackling nuisance and anti-social behaviour.
Detached youth workers go to the areas where groups of young people gather and organise constructive activities for them to get involved with.
At the same time, police officers patrol the identified areas, seizing alcohol and other substances from under age drinkers, and intervening to resolve problems if they arise.
Other partners in this operation include
- trading standards, who address the illegal sale of alcohol to underage drinkers
- the youth offending and alcohol and drugs team.
