Dealing with anti social behaviour
Anti-social behaviour is a priority issue for many residents and a small number of people can cause misery to a neighbourhood. That is why Salford’s crime prevention partners have introduced a number of initiatives to deal with anti-social behaviour and its causes.
Some of the actions include:
Additional parenting provision to help support and educate parents whose children are known to be committing anti-social behaviour;
Additional support for families at risk of losing their tenancy due to anti-social behaviour through an Assisted Families Project (Assfam);
A new focus on social landlords and their responsibilities in dealing with anti-social tenants through the Standard for Housing Management;
A renewed commitment to the proportionate use of enforcement tools and powers in tackling anti-social behaviour.
Responding to problems that are highlighted by members of the community (for example, off-road vehicle nuisance)
Responding to seasonal problems (such as the misuse of fireworks, tackled by Operation treacle).
Dispersal orders in key areas of the city, such as the Irlam Locks, giving the police powers to tackle groups causing a nuisance.
An alcohol exclusion zone covering most of the city giving the police powers to seize alcohol from troublemakers and underage drinkers.
Preventing juvenile nuisance by targeting groups of young people on weekends through Operation Brocade.
