Wicked - Vehicle Crime Prevention

Salford Crime & Disorder Reduction Partnership (CDRP) is committed to tackling vehicle crime within local communities. Working in partnership with Greater Manchester Police we have launched a major new campaign codenamed WICKED.
Whilst Salford CDRP is experiencing reductions in vehicle crime compared to previous years, changes in technology have meant new crime trends. Between 1st January 2006 and 31st January 2007, there were 854 recorded thefts of satellite navigation systems in Salford. The systems are being taken from vehicles where owners have inadvertently left them or their mounting cradles on display. In fact, vehicles have even been targeted where the owners have removed their system and mounting cradle but the 'sucker marks' have remained visible on the windscreen.
As part of the new WICKED campaign, Salford CDRP is working in effective partnership with communities and partnership agencies. For instance, next time you visit your local garage you may receive a Wicked car security kit.
The impactive Wicked marketing campaign has been designed to raise awareness about vehicle crime issues including the simple steps owners can take to prevent themselves becoming a victim. This campaign will carry the strapline 'Beware: Thieving devils are hell-bent on car crime.' Marketing materials include visually impactive posters, postcards, tamper-proof tax disc holders, car security kits and impactive car air fresheners.
