Enforcements

Intervention and enforcement action

When we become aware that individuals or groups of people have committed anti-social behaviour, there are many different intervention and enforcement tools and powers available to us to help address the problem.

Initially we would warn the person about their behaviour and the potential consequences in the behaviour persists.  Warnings range from early intervention warnings (written or verbal) that can be given by any agency and have no direct legal consequences, up to formal warnings by the police (cautions for adults, reprimands and final warnings for juveniles) that are recorded and monitored and can lead to a criminal prosecution for persistent offenders. Such formal warnings will be taken into account by the court when deciding a sentence.

Respect - Enforcements

If the behaviour persists, we will pursue enforcement action against the individual, family or group committing the anti-social acts.  Enforcement actions may include Housing Legal Actions (e.g. Injunctions, demoted tenancies, possession orders, etc.), Anti-Social Behaviour Orders (ASBOs), Dispersal Orders, Crack House Closures, etc.
