Neighbourhood working in Salford
Neighbourhood Management is a way of working with communities to make sure that local people can influence decisions about their neighbourhood. It ensures that service providers coordinate their activity to address local priorities.
The city of Salford is divided into eight neighbourhoods, each with a Neighbourhood Team that looks after the interests of the community.
Each team is led by a neighbourhood manager. A typical Neighbourhood Team consists of representatives from the council, Police, Fire Service, Primary Care Trust, housing agencies, and other organisations working in an area.
Each neighbourhood area has its own Community Committee which provides a forum for local residents to get involved in decisions. Community Committees lead on the development of Community Action Plans which inform the work of the Neighbourhood Team. They also decide on how devolved budgets are allocated. Community Committees often have sub groups to focus on specific issues such as parks, road safety, or children and young people. Talk to your neighbourhood manager about how you can get involved in issues that interest you.

Community and Social Care Awards 2008
If you have had a great service from library staff, social service staff, Salford Museum and Art Gallery, Ordsall Hall or from a neighbourhood management team or community centre, now you have the chance to say a great big thank you.
