Swinton

Welcome to the pages for the Swinton Neighourhood Area. Here you will find information about the neighbourhood, as well as current news, useful contacts, and opportunities for getting involved.
The area is made up of three wards, Swinton South, Swinton North, and Pendlebury. For statistical information about these wards see our ward profiles page.
About the area
Swinton town centre is the focus of major building work with the development of a new health facility, police station and possibly magistrates courts. Salford City Council has its headquarters based there. The town centre has the district's main shopping centre.
There is a good mix of housing, both public and private sector across the area, ranging from terraced housing to large detached residences.
Transport links are good along the two main arterial routes to Manchester but crossing the area can be difficult. There are three railway stations which could benefit from more frequent services and improved pedestrian and bus links.
There are three high schools and fourteen primary schools.
Industrial areas are centred around Pendlebury, Agecroft and Wardley.
Open space and recreational areas can be found in Clifton, Wardley, Silverdale and Swinton Park.
The three priorities for the Swinton Community Committee are Crime, Children and Young People and the Environment.
Community Committee and Local Task Groups
Community Committee meetings for Swinton are held bimonthly. Anyone wanting to find out what’s going on or get involved is invited to attend. For information about community committee including dates, times and venues, copies of the minutes, or information on how to join the mailing list please see the Community Committee page.

An action plan for the area is produced every year by the community committee. A copy of the action plan can be downloaded from the CAP page.
