Salford Twin Town - Clermont-Ferrand

How you can be involved:

The Salford-Clermont-Ferrand Twinning Committee meets every month at Salford City Council.

Its meetings are open to all who want to contribute to town twinning in Salford.

Last month’s exchanges:

  • Large bulk of finance spent on special project sending Chatsworth school children to Clermont-Ferrand. These are special needs children who are going to forge links with a special school in Clermont-Ferrand.
  • Link set up with St Philips RC Primary School and Victor Hugo School from Clermont-Ferrand, links by email and video conferencing.
  • Student placements continue in Salford, most of them are in the University of Salford with others in Salford businesses and a few in Salford City Council.

Exchanges is process:

  • Venture is being explored around apprenticeships and Further Education.
  • Forging links with Salford University.
  • An art project is under discussion with exchanges taking place in 2008 and exhibitions in 2009. Also Harold Riley looking to do exhibition in Clermont-Ferrand.
  • Find building/square to bear name Clermont-Ferrand as Clermont-Ferrand have Salford Square.
  • Do some work around video of the two cities also explore links between the short film festival and Salford film festival.
  • Road safety video being discussed between youth services of Clermont-Ferrand and Salford.
  • Improve the IT links between Salford & Clermont-Ferrand.
