Landlord Licensing Working Group

The Landlord Licensing Working group was set up in November 2003 in order to provide a direct mechanism for  landlords to work through the licensing proposals with the local authority. Landlords are encouraged to facilitate ideas and concerns and to raise any issues which they feel would impact on their business or the market generally.

This group was originally attended by volunteers identified through a Questionnaire, which was sent out to Landlords who were members of the Landlord Accreditation Scheme and also to landlords who were in receipt of Housing Benefit. The group continues to be well attended and is open to any landlord who wishes to take part in meaningful exchanges.

The Agendas have included formal presentations given by the Principal Officer responsible for Landlord Licensing, around the main provisions of the Housing Act 2004 and have progressed more recently to discussion forums, such as Landlord Forum, around detailed policies and procedures, which are currently under development in order to support the licensing function, including the setting of fees and the Fit and Proper person test.
