Outdoor activities

Low ropes course (jungle gym)
Offers a variety of low-level challenges encouraging teamwork and cooperation. This is situated within the centre grounds.
Canadian canoeing and kayaking
The large pool in the river in front of the centre is ideal for introducing youngsters to the sport. Further afield, Wales offers a wide range of sites, all a short drive from the centre, to suit all ability levels, from lakes through to rivers to the sea.
Rock climbing
On site on our small outcrop of rock that is set at an easy angle with plenty of holds and ledges. In addition within the locality of the centre are a number of crags offering a full range of climbs to challenge even the most adventurous.
Underground exploration
Near the centre there are so many old slate mines that can be explored with the guidance of the centre staff. Also nearby is a show mine where for an additional charge you can take a guided tour underground and explore a miners' village on the surface.
Orienteering
Both on and off site using a progression of maps from simple sketch to full competition standard.
High level ropes course
The elements on site include a range of activities from low and high balance beams, the bell climb, the vertical play pen and trapeze.
Gorge walking
This is an exciting activity offered in the summer months using a stretch of the river situated right next to the centre.
Camping/bivouacking
For a night out in the centre grounds or locale provides a stimulating activity for visiting groups.
Problem solving/team building games
Including exercises in the centre grounds, this is an ideal foundation activity for some of the more challenging pursuits above.
Sea-level traversing
This exciting activity involves climbing along coastal cliffs and rocks near the sea.
Mountaineering
At both high and low levels in the hills, valleys and forest of Snowdonia National Park.
Mountain biking
We have a fleet of mountain bikes for use on local tracks and trails.
Pony trekking and dry slope skiing
These are all available locally at extra cost.
