Local Development Scheme

The Local Development Scheme (LDS) 2011/12 to 2013/14 describes what the city council is going to do to prepare new and revised planning policy for the city over the next three years.
The LDS provides the starting point for all with an interest in the city to find out where the current planning policies for the city are set out and the timetable for the preparation of Local Development Documents (LDD) to update or replace these policies over the next three years.
The LDS has three main purposes:
- To inform the public of the development plan and related documents that will make up the new planning policy framework;
- To set out the timescales the public can expect for the preparation and review of these documents. The timetable specifically includes “consultation milestones” to inform the public about opportunities to get involved with the plan making process and to let them know the likely dates for involvement; and
- To establish and reflect council priorities and to enable work programmes to be set for the preparation of these development plan documents.
The current Local Development Scheme document was approved by the Strategic Director for Sustainable Regeneration in January 2012 and came into effect on 1 February 2012.
Copies of the current LDS can be viewed in all Salford libraries within the city and at Swinton Civic Centre reception, the opening hours are Monday to Friday from 8.30am to 4.30pm.
