What services can I access through a locality team?
Locality teams are part of the Early Intervention and Prevention Service.
The core services which can be accessed through localities are:
- Education welfare which support children to get into school and can challenge both parents and schools to achieve this, and
- Family support, which supports families which are facing a range of challenges and difficulties
Other services provide through locality teams are:
- Brief intervention therapy, which supports parents and children/young people, to prevent family breakdown and/or permanent exclusion from school
- Family group conferences, which supports families to resolve difficulties they may be facing by bringing the members together to create their own solutions
- Housing, which advises parents in relation to issues around their tenancies and property
- School and family support, which supports families through their children's access to school
- Skills and work, which advises parents about skills, employment opportunities and learning opportunities that can lead to and enhance employment prospects
It also includes a range of commissioned services such as:
- In Focus, which works to prevent drug and alcohol dependency in parents and carers and reduce the harm that substance misuse has on children
- Safe and healthy family relationships, which works with partners to reduce potential domestic violence in the home
Services that can be accessed through localities work very closely with other Early Intervention and Prevention Services such as evidence-based parenting and the team supporting the Common Assessment Framework.
