Locality teams
Locality teams are one-stop-shops to provide a single point of contact for children, young people and families across Salford.
Locality teams deliver preventative services. Each team is made up of staff from different professional backgrounds including education welfare officers, social care workers, CAF (Common Assessment Framework) co-ordinators and youth services.
Locality teams bring together lots of agencies such as healthcare and education and as the teams grow and develop, more organisations will join.
There are four locality teams working in Salford, positioned strategically across the city to offer a wide range of services through a single point of contact.
Why do locality teams exist?
Locality teams are concerned with providing seamless delivery of services for children and families.
By working with children and young people and their parents and carers, and by sharing information, the locality teams can help to reduce some of the difficulties that a child or young person and their families are experiencing.
Locality teams are particularly concentrated on early intervention and prevention. By encouraging children, families and young people to tackle any issues they may have early on, the locality teams are giving themselves a far higher success rate of solving problems than if they let them escalate.
Where you consider a child to be at risk of harm and in need of protection, you should follow existing child protection guidelines and phone 0161 603 4500 or outside working hours call 0161 794 8888 (after 4.30pm).
