Torch relay

The Olympic Torch Relay will be arriving in the UK on 18 May 2012 and will tour England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland until 26 July 2012.

On 7 November 2011, the communities on route were officially announced by the London 2012 organisers. This confirmed that the Torch Relay will pass through Salford during its journey around the country.

Details of the exact areas and streets the relay will be passing through will not be available until much closer to the time, but we are looking forward to the Olympic Flame coming to Salford and to helping celebrate the 2012 Olympic Games coming to the UK.

Torchbearers

The open nomination process for people to act as torchbearers on the Torch Relay has now closed. However, there are still other opportunities to nominate or apply to be a torchbearer, including through the Torch Relay's official sponsors, and the Get Set programme for schools.
