Transport

New trams now serve MediaCityUK

Salford City Council are also dedicated to ensuring that local people can access MediaCityUK and Salford Quays from wherever they live in the city.

How do I get to MediaCityUK and Salford Quays?

We are currently creating dedicated maps for each community committee area showing the best and easiest ways to reach Salford Quays on public transport.

East Salford is the first community committee area to be completed and includes an interactive pdf with links to timetables, and a printable version for you to print and keep. The map can be downloaded from the bottom of this page.

We'd like to hear your feedback on these maps. Do you find them useful? Can they be improved in anyway? Please send any comments to emma.foster@salford.gov.uk. The maps for the other community committee areas will be launched shortly.

You can also use Traveline's journey planner to find the best way to Salford Quays from where you live.

Tram

Four new Metrolink trams along with a brand new MediaCityUK stop in the heart of the piazza, are now in service meaning that trams to The Quays are now served by three stops: Broadway, MediaCityUK and Harbour City. The new service is now running to MediaCityUK alongside the existing Eccles line service, offering a six minute service to The Quays area at peak times.

Bus

Salford Quayslink, a brand new high-frequency bus service, launched in 2011, linking Salford Crescent station to MediaCityUK. Crucially, this new route also calls at Salford Shopping City, linking up with over 1,000 other buses a day from across the city and improving access for residents across Salford. Work continues to investigate further bus routes across the city and region.

Cycling / walking

To encourage healthy and green ways of travelling to work or for fun, 300 cycle racks will be in place around the MediaCityUK site. Work is underway on the Irwell River Park project which will mean cyclists and pedestrians can travel along the River Irwell on improved and maintained paths from Manchester city centre to The Quays. Improvements to the M602 underpass will also make it easier for local residents to reach The Quays.

Road

Road access to The Quays has been improved through the new Broadway Link Road offering access from junction 2 of the M602 along with improvements to the M602 roundabout. A new 2,200 space multi-storey car park is now open on-site.
