Modern Governor

E-learning for school governors in Salford

Modern Governor is a service from Learning Pool, the public sector e-learning exchange. It is designed to help school governors develop their skills through e-learning. It is however not intended to replace face-to-face training which will continue to be offered through the Salford Governor Services termly training programme.

Whether you're a newly elected governor or an established governor looking to increase your existing knowledge, Modern Governor has something for you. Modern Governor has been created with help from experts in governor services. This means that all the courses reflect the latest initiatives and challenges facing school governors today.

Governors benefit from:

  • Any time, any place, any pace learning
  • Learning in privacy
  • Bite sized learning that can be revisited
  • Guidance on the latest initiatives
  • Dedicated helpdesk available 8.00am to 8.00pm, Monday to Friday
  • Group learning if undertaken in governor meetings

Schools benefit from:

  • Increased access to training for busy or remote governors
  • Ability to provide blended learning programmes
  • Tracked and evidenced learning
  • Reduced classroom time
  • Cost efficiencies, even for small schools

The courses

Designed to be easy to use, Modern Governor’s courses are short and engaging, typically lasting 30 minutes and consisting of a few separate modules. The content is structured in this way to allow governors to dip in and out of a course as their schedules permit.

The courses have been produced with the help of experts from the education and local government sector and include examples, case studies and scenarios specifically relevant for today’s busy governors. Released regularly, the courses will remain permanently available throughout your subscription so that governors can revisit the material as often as they wish.
