Salford Heritage Services offers a range of sessions for Key Stages 1, Key Stage 2, Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 as well as ESOL groups.

Key Stage 1

Ordsall Alive!
A hands-on session led by costumed facilitators.

Key Stage 2

Ordsall Alive!
A hands-on session led by costumed facilitators.

Garden session: Clever Clods
Qualify as a soil scientist - an excellent link to the Year 3 'Rocks and Soils' unit.

Garden session: Roots and Shoots
Learn how plants work - each child will plant a seed to take back to school. This session is an excellent link to the five-a-day initiative and healthy schools.

Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4 and further education (FE)

We offer the following sessions for Key Stage 3 and 4.

Pattern design
Explore shapes, patterns, and texture and form in Ordsall Hall's architecture. Taking inspiration from the building students, students will design their own motifs for printing patterns.

Stitch draw (Also suitable for further education)
Explore the techniques and materials used in the contemporary textile artwork 'The Ordsall Tapestry'. Have a go at transferring drawings onto cloth, applique and drawing with machine stitching.

Project briefs (Also suitable for further education)
We can provide resources such as live briefs and work related learning to support students work on a range of courses, including art, design and media BTEC's and the Diploma in Creative and Media.

Changing exhibitions
We have a vibrant programme of arts and heritage exhibitions. We offer bespoke creative workshops for groups interested in particular exhibitions.

Dancing the Past To Life: Online Teachers Resource (Also suitable for Key Stage 2)
Developed by professional dance educators, the website provides resources, including schemes of work and video clips, to support the cross-curricular exploration of Ordsall Hall through movement and dance. The themes explored are the History Detectives, Tudors, Guy Fawkes, World War Two and Ordsall Hall Past and Present.

Ordsall Hall on the Home Front
Find out about life on the home front during World War Two - students will be encouraged to 'Dig for Victory' and 'Make do and Mend' to find out about the lives of children during World War Two.

This session is an excellent link to the Year 3 and 4 'What life was like for children during the Second World War' unit.

This session is due to launch September 2012.
