Open water swimming

Our open water swim season will start up again once the water has reached 11 degress, hopefully mid April. The open water swim sessions are the perfect training session for long-distance swimmers and triathletes.
- Monday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings (during our swim season) from 6.00pm until 8.30pm
- Full safety cover is provided by safety kayaks and boats
- Warm showers and changing rooms are available
- Aquasphere goggles and swim caps can be purchased from reception
- Wetsuit hire will be available in both adult and childrens sizes
- Two different length courses, measured by GPS
- Limited lockers available at 20 pence (non-refundable), smaller valuable lockers available at one pound (returnable)
- Limited free on-site parking
We also have separate coached sessions that people can take part in on Monday and Thursday evenings. The coaches come from Manchester Tri Club and can cater for all abilities.

To attend a swim session all swimmers must pre-register on a yearly basis.
All previous participants will need to re-register. The 2012 registration form is available to download at the bottom of this page.
There will be no registration on swim nights due to the large number of people going through reception. Please email us your form as soon as you can (before 3.30pm if you are registering on the day you intend to swim) and you can pay the registration fee on your first swim of the season.
A Salford Community Leisure (SCL) swipe card is required. You will receive this when you register for the first time. If you have been previously then you should already have a swipe card.
A replacement SCL swipe card costs £2.50.
If you require any further information please do not hesitate to contact the watersports centre.
