Walkden Cycle Hub terms and conditions

The cycle hub is a secure area, covered by CCTV and has 24 cycle parking spaces. The purpose of this hub is to provide a secure, sheltered space for cycle parking for local residents who need to store their bike whilst travelling by train.

The cycle hub is located at Walkden train station within the car park to the south of the station.

When accessing the hub users should not allow anyone else to access or exit the hub at the same time as them. Each user should open the hub with their own log in details.

When loading and unloading cycles into and out of the hub, users should be aware of passers-by who are using the footway and take care not to hinder them.

Scheme membership

The cycle hub can only be accessed by those who have registered for a space. To register you will need to complete the registration form on the cycle hub web page and pay an annual membership fee.

The annual fee of £10 is payable in advance, to Salford City Council, when you register and is valid for 12 months from the date of receipt of payment.

Membership is not transferable to another user and enables the user to store one cycle in the hub at a time. If you withdraw from the scheme part way through the year you will not receive a refund.

Once you have registered and paid the membership fee you will receive a confirmation email and instructions on how to use the cycle hub.

To access the hub users will need to download the ‘OKey’ App from your App store. This allows users to enter and exit the hub using a smart phone or device that can connect to the internet as well as having Bluetooth connectivity.

Storage of bikes

The cycle hub may only be used for the storage of pedal cycles only. Cycles parked within the hub should be securely locked, with a good quality D-lock, to one of the parking stands.

Salford City Council is not responsible for loss and/or damage and/or theft of cycles stored in the hub. Members are advised to take out their own insurance for their bike.

Termination of membership

Members no longer wishing to use the cycle hub should inform Salford City Council as soon as possible so their space can be allocated to someone else.

Members may terminate their membership at any point in the year; however, no part of the annual fee will be refunded.

After one year of membership the users membership will be cancelled automatically if it is not renewed.

Any bikes that are left for a period of one month or more may be removed at Salford City Council’s discretion.
