City Centre Region

Salford City Council proposes to make the following Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The title and effect of the Order is as follows:

City of Salford (City Centre Region) 20mph Speed Limit Zone Order 2023

The effect of the proposed Order will be to introduce a 20mph speed limit on the following roads: 

  • Bankside Boulevard – For its entire length.
  • Barlow’s Croft – For its entire length.
  • Blackfriars Road - From its junction with A6042 Trinity Way to its junction with Chapel Street.
  • Blackfriars Street - From its junction with Chapel Street to the Manchester City boundary.
  • Bloom Street – For its entire length.
  • Boond Street – For its entire length.
  • Booth Street – For its entire length.
  • Browncross Street – For its entire length.
  • Bury Street – For its entire length.
  • Cable Street – For its entire length.
  • Caxton Street – For its entire length.
  • Chapel Street - From its junction with A6042 Trinity Way to the Manchester City boundary.
  • Clowes Street – For its entire length.
  • Collier Street – For its entire length.
  • Cook Street – For its entire length.
  • Cross Street – For its entire length.
  • Dearmans Place – For its entire length.
  • Duke Street – For its entire length.
  • Garden Lane – For its entire length.
  • Gore Street – For its entire length.
  • Gorton Street – For its entire length.
  • Gravel Lane – For its entire length.
  • Greengate – For its entire length.
  • Harding Street – For its entire length.
  • John Street – For its entire length.
  • Johnson Street – For its entire length.
  • King Street – For its entire length.
  • Lamb Court – For its entire length.
  • New Bailey Street - From its junction with Chapel Street to the Manchester City boundary.
  • New Bridge Street - From the Manchester City Boundary to its junction with Greengate.
  • New Kings Head Yard – For its entire length.
  • North Broughton Street – For its entire length.
  • Northgate Avenue – For its entire length.
  • Norton Street – For its entire length.
  • Quay Street – For its entire length.
  • Queen Street – For its entire length.
  • Rolla Street – For its entire length.
  • Sackville Street – For its entire length.
  • Salford Approach – For its entire length.
  • Spaw Street – For its entire length.
  • Stanley Street - From its junction with New Bailey Street to its junction with Irwell Street.
  • Viaduct Street – For its entire length.
  • Victoria Bridge Street - From its junction with Chapel Street to the Manchester City boundary.
  • William Street – For its entire length.
  • Worsley Street – For its entire length.
  • Yorkshire Street – For its entire length.

Existing Orders are to be amended so as to be consistent with the proposals.
