Statement of Reasons for proposing to make

The City of Salford (Hope Street, Ordsall) (Prohibition of Waiting) Order 2021

Currently both vehicles and pedestrians are experiencing problems on Hope Street due to vehicles parking inconsiderately on both sides. Parking on Hope Street focuses on vehicle entrance areas making HGV access and egress difficult. There have been concerns expressed over safety as parking is restricting space to manoeuvre 32 tonne and 44 tonne trucks. There are also concerns over safety as pedestrians are forced onto the road due to parking on footways.

It has therefore been proposed to introduce a ‘No Waiting at Any Time’ restriction on Hope Street in order to ensure that all vehicles are able to access the street.

Copies of the proposed orders, plans of the area and statement of the council's reasons for proposing to make the above orders may be examined at Salford Civic Centre, Chorley Road, Swinton, M27 5DA, 9am to 4.30pm Monday to Friday. Due to the COVID-19 restrictions, please ensure that the Civic Centre is open before attending.

Alternatively, copies of the documentation may be requested via the email phlegal@manchester.gov.uk or the postal addresses below. If you wish to object to the proposed orders you should send the grounds of your objection in writing to Fiona Ledden, City Solicitor: PO Box 532, Town Hall, Manchester, M60 2LA, or phlegal@manchester.gov.uk by the 14 June 2021 quoting ref STG/OUT1093/918.
