13-19 Partnership

Following the area wide inspection and subsequent development of an action plan, the 14-19 Partnership Group was established in Salford in 2001. Subsequently it was split into two groups - a strategic and an operational group. Its title was changed to 13-19 Partnership to reflect it's increased role, taking on board the Connexions Partnership remit. It now reports to the Children and Young Peoples' Partnership Board.

It is chaired by the principal of a local college and involves all local partners - Salford Children's Services, Learning and Skills Council Greater Manchester, higher education, the Primary Care Trust, leisure services, secondary and special schools, colleges, work-based learning providers, Connexions Salford, Salford Business Education Partnership and the voluntary sector.

It has overseen many of the major developments in 14-19 collaboration, especially the development of the vocational curriculum at Key Stage 4 and more recently the development of Specialised Diplomas. It has recently restructured and will have the following sub groups reporting to it:

  • 14-19 implementation group (previously operational group)
  • Diploma group
  • Positive activities subgroup
  • Be healthy/stay safe subgroup
  • Information, advice and guidance subgroup
  • Integrated youth support service (IYSS) subgroup
