Peel Park and David Lewis Recreation Ground

Opened in August 1846 and located next to the University of Salford, Peel Park is quite possibly the world's first official public park.
Among the parks many unique features include two magnificent stone statues of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert along with a permanent monument which depicts the height of the 'flood of 1866'.
Two sculptures can also be found near to the play area which form part of the Irwell Sculpture Trail. These are:
- The Fabric of Nature (created by Julia Hilton), which takes nature's patterns as its inspiration.
- The Monument to the third Millennium (created by Adrian Moakes) which celebrates the recent environmental regeneration of the river including the re-appearance of fish and wildlife.
Among the parks other main features include a children's play area and a range of floral displays.
The David Lewis Recreation Ground is located on Wallness Lane and Seaford Road and is mainly used for organised football games.
