Consultation

Inspiral Pendleton Consultation bus

May 2010

In May the two final bidders held consultation events so you could see how their plans for Pendleton were shaping up.

The Inspiral Pendleton consultation bus visited seven locations across Pendleton. Residents were given the opportunity to hop on board to review designs, talk through their refurbishment programme and question members of the Inspiral team. Refreshments were provided and residents were entertained by jazz and folk band music.

Residents also had the opportunity to visit the new homes at the opening event of the new HomeZone developed by Great Places on Fitzwarren Street. Children from Larkhill Primary School created a carnival atmosphere and entertained everyone with their streetdancing.

Inspiral also undertook an estate walkabout with residents to highlight elements of their design proposals.

SP+ held a large event at Lark Hill Primary School, packed with events throughout the day. Lots of people commented on their proposals and they now have hundreds of forms, pictures and video clips explaining what people thought of their design and what they would like to see.

As well as the consultation exercise, there were lots of other activities taking place during the day including magic shows, bricklaying competitions, tiling, plumbing, plastering and brick laying, an animal farm, balloon making, belly dancers, face painting, grow your own plants, DIY training, sports activities, games and much more.

Pendleton residents were asked to sign cardboard bricks. If SP+ is picked as the winning bidder, they will put these names on real bricks so their names will be present in the new Pendleton for all time.

March 2010

On Saturday 20 March local residents attended a session to discuss the kind of facilities Pendleton needs for the future following the closure of the Woolpack pub.

The session looked at what type of facility it could be, possible location spots, how it could work and who could be involved. This session was only the start - a formal group will now be set up to get it off the ground, attract funding and support its development.

2009

2009 was a busy year as we began looking for the perfect partner to help us transform Pendleton. Five consortiums indicated they were interested in bidding to become our partner and were asked to submit outline proposals for Pendleton. Between February and May 2009, the bidders worked on their proposals and we examined them in more detail, three bidders were asked to develop their proposals in more detail.

The three bidders then met with people in the local community, presenting their initial ideas for the area and listening to views and comments. The bidders also met with local businesses and key stakeholders, to gain their views.

On Monday 6, Tuesday 7 and Thursday 9 July 2009, local residents had the opportunity to meet with the bidders and find out more about their initial ideas for Pendleton.

A second set of consultation events were held on 31 October and 2 November 2009, where the three bidders (Inspiral Pendleton, Solutions 4 Salford and SP+) presented more detailed proposals for Pendleton and explained how their ideas had developed since the events in the summer and how local feedback had been taken on board.

Throughout 2009, we continued to meet with those residents who may be affected by demolition to determine their future housing needs. If you have not yet discussed your housing needs, please contact the Pendleton Team at Salix Homes to book an appointment.
