Pilkington's workshop
During this two hour workshop the children learn about the history of the internationally renowned Salford ceramics factory, Pilkington's and have the chance to spend time looking at and sketching from the work on display, which includes tiles and decorative ceramics.
There are two options for the outcome of this workshop - choose from either:
- Experimenting with clay - pupils have a chance to look at different ways of making patterns and designs with clay, and make a tile using air hardening clay to take back to school, where it could be painted at a later date
- Shopping bag - Working to a brief pupils design a reusable paper shopping bag for the museum shop, with a design and logo inspired by the Pilkington's collection
This session is designed for Key Stage 2 and costs £1.00 per child with a minimum charge of £20.00 for smaller groups.
