Adoption support services - adoptive families
Adoptive families
As an experienced Adoption Team we understand and recognise that adoption can have consequences for all those involved - adoptive children, adoptive parents and their birth children. At different stages through out your family life you may need some advice and support, dealing with some of the complexities adoption can bring.
Who can we help?
- Adoptive parents
- Children of adoptive parents whether adopted or birth children
You can ask us for help with difficulties like:
- Your child’s behaviour, including relationships with others
- Positive parenting
- Educational issues
- Physical and emotional health issues
- Talking about adoption and early experiences
- Post Adoption contact issues
- Financial issues including Welfare Rights advice
Can we help you?
- The Adoption Agency that placed your child/ren is responsible for any adoption support during the first three year period which begins from the date of the Adoption Order.
- After this three year period the council where you live is responsible for looking at your adoption support needs.
- If you are unsure about who will offer you the help or advice, you may wish to contact Carole Pelling, Adoption Support Services Adviser who will offer advice about the situation.
Stepparent adoption
- We can offer counselling, advice and information to stepparent adopters who live in Salford
