GCSE results rise again in Salford

Salford's GCSE results have improved even further this year - taking the city's average number of pupils achieving five or more A* to C grades to 81 per cent - 11 per cent per cent above last years' national average.
The amount of pupils achieving five A* to C including English and maths has also continued to improve by a further three per cent on last years results, bringing the average for the city to 49 per cent.
Overall, all Salford schools have achieved at least 75 per cent five or more A* to C grades and at least half of schools achieved 85 per cent or more.
St Patrick's RC High in Eccles has maintained its three year record of achieving 100 per cent for A* to C grades.
Other schools results in the city have improved significantly this year including All Hallows RC High, with almost 52 per cent of pupils achieving five or more A* to C including English and maths. This is an improvement of almost 13 per cent on last years results, bringing them above this years national average.
St Ambrose Barlow RC High in Swinton has also improved by almost ten percent, making them the school in Salford with the highest amount of pupils achieving five or more A* to C grades including English and maths, with just over 82 per cent.
Cllr Margaret Morris, Salford City Council lead member for children's services said: "Once again Salford's GCSE results have improved and are a real credit to the hard work of our young people and their teachers. All schools in Salford now have at least 75 per cent of pupils gaining five or more A* to C grades. This is a fantastic achievement and part of our commitment to ensure all our young people have the best possible future."
