Types of contracts

The council’s procurement team is responsible for the management of corporate contracts and maintains close links with council directorates, direct service organisations and direct labour organisations to assist in obtaining optimum value for money whilst maintaining a high quality product or service.

The city council operates a range of contracts including:

  • One-off purchases
  • Long term service contracts
  • Call-off contracts for a specified period
  • Framework arrangements where a number of businesses have met required standards

Some contracts, due to the nature of the specialist products or services, continue to be managed within individual council directoratesor partner organisations.

These include:

  • A variety of care in the community contracts (Community Health and Social Care)
  • corporate property maintenance, civil engineering/minor works (Urban Vision)
  • maintenance of housing stock (Salix Homes)
