Procurement strategy 2011-12
This strategy represents the council's procurement aims and objectives for the next year.
During this time there will be a major review of procurement architecture across the region, which will be the first stage in a process of realignment and modernisation. This strategy will develop as the modernisation of procurement takes place and it will incorporate changes in procurement structure methods and techniques designed to meet the varying requirements of the council.
This document is divided into three sections:
- an overview of procurement in the council and the aims of this strategy
- the principles and objectives of procurement in the city council
- summary of key procurement objectives
As a corporate approach to procurement continues to develop within the council and across the region, the strategy will capture the most appropriate elements of best practice and will remain sufficiently flexible to respond to both internal and external change.
The aims of elected members and senior managers are inherent in the strategy and it will continue to reflect the seven pledges of the council.
