Frequently asked questions
How do I find out if my school is going to benefit?
Your child’s school may contact you directly, or you may contact them.
Proposals will be drawn up, in discussion with the schools, once a decision has been made on the overall funding package. That decision is expected in the autumn.
A formal consultation process would start once the proposals have been developed further.
How can I find out what is proposed for my school?
At this stage, there may not be a specific proposal for your school.

A formal consultation process would start once the proposals have been developed further.
In some cases, certain schools have already been through a statutory consultation process.
Proposals for those schools would become part of this overall programme.
When can I have my say?
The school will consult you initially on the proposals for your school. If this involves the statutory process, formal consultation would start once they have been developed further.
Will you be shutting schools?
The strategy will see some schools closing, due to the fact that the building is beyond economic repair and/or there is a high level of surplus pupil places in the local area.
Some primary schools in Salford have already been through a statutory consultation process around their closure.
How do I know if my child’s school is going to close?
Schools which might be put forward for a merger or relocation have requested anonymity at this stage.
This is because we are at such an early stage in the process and headteachers and governors are concerned that expectations could be raised, or schools adversely affected, in advance of an actual formal proposal being drawn up.
Any closure proposal will involve formal consultation.
