How do I recycle my food waste?
You can recycle all of your food waste using your free (seven litre) kitchen caddy. Simply, line your caddy with compostable liners and fill it with food waste.
When the bag starts to get full, tie it and pop it into your magenta-lidded bin. If you prefer, you can also place your food waste directly into your magenta-lidded bin.
Top tip: Only use compostable liners that display the looped leaf logo. Please do not use plastic bags as these cannot be recycled.
Need extra recycling bins and bags?
If you don’t have a magenta-lidded garden waste bin or kitchen caddy (including a roll of compostable liners) you can order them free of charge by calling 0161 909 6500 or emailing environment@salford.gov.uk.
We can also provide you with additional blue and brown recycling bins or reusable bags that you can put out on collection day.
