Reporting a hate crime

Don't suffer in silence - report all hate crimes

It is important to report all hate incidents, even if you think nothing can be done as it helps the police identify areas of concern and patterns of behaviour. Hate crimes are not only crimes against the targeted victim, but also against a particular group as a whole. It is important to report hate crime to enable the police and other agencies to build a real picture of what is happening in our communities.

Also, both police officers and other agency representatives working across Salford have been successful in gaining evidence against offenders by putting together information given by a range of victims.

Calling

You can report any form of hate crime anonymously by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or phone the police's non-emergency reporting number on (0161) 872 5050.

In an emergency ring 999.

Reporting it online

You can report a hate crime online by filling in the online reporting form on the Greater Manchester Police website.

Visiting a hate crime reporting centre

A hate crime reporting centre allows you to report crimes without having to go directly to the police station, and include places of worship, housing providers, voluntary and community-based organisations. You can discuss your experience with a specially trained person to complete a hate crime incident reporting form.
