RHS Tatton Park 2003 Macclesfield Garden
One of Macclesfield Borough Council's recent successes has been the development of a Parks Strategy with consultants from The Landscape Design Group - Urban Vision.
To celebrate completion of the strategy and the partnership with the Landscape Design Group the garden was created to reflect the ambience of Macclesfield's much loved parks as welcoming places to enjoy, feel safe and relax in.
Drawing on the Strategy document for colour, detail, movement and form, the garden uses boundary structures and detail design to incorporate curves to soften and lead the eye through mixes of modern and traditional materials, technology and informal planting.
Changing levels suggest a larger landscape with a range of experiences. Detail and inspiration has also been provided through the involvement of community members, acknowledging the user as a vital part of Macclesfield's parks.
The partnership between the designers of the Landscape Design Group and the implementation of the design by Macclesfield Borough Council resulted in a Silver Gilt Medal Award from the RHS.
