Which areas are covered by Salford West?

Salford West is home to over 140,000 people.  That is nearly two thirds of all Salford residents.  It has some of the most prosperous areas in the city as well as some of the most deprived in the country.  With 4,000 businesses here the area can boast strong employment sites such as Agecroft, Northbank and Ashton's Field.  Barton Strategic Site along the Ship Canal offers a unique opportunity for major development .

As the cradle of the industrial revolution it has a wealth of heritage including three canals, three protected historical monuments and nine conservation areas.  All this and the River Irwell Valley, two country parks and numerous green cycling and walking routes.  44% of Salford West is made up of green belt land, Chat Moss alone makes up half of the city's green space.

At the heart of the North West's motorway networks, Salford West benefits from an excellent transport network.  With nearby access to an international airport it also has a local airport, docks, canals, a tram and railway services.

The Salford West area comprises 13 wards, which are grouped into five neighbourhoods.
