Salford life
Salford is a dynamic city which can boast a proud past - and one which is looking forward to an even more exciting future.
Dip into our pages on Revolution in Salford and Famous Salfordians, to get a feel for our proud industrial heritage, and the talented citizens who have gone on to fame and fortune.
But Salford does not rely on its famous history. The city's involvement in the textile and other trades has largely disappeared - and a new Salford is emerging.
The city has an international reputation for successful regeneration - Salford Quays is just one example. Other work is under way to transform the city - in the up and coming business area of Chapel Street, and in nearby Charlestown and Lower Kersal where £53m of pump priming through New Deal for Communities is transforming a residential area.
But this is just the beginning of the council's plans to make this a city to be proud of. Our Community Plan is a vision for transforming the city over the next few years, and a Community Safety Plan is making inroads into the problems of crime and disorder which beset every city.
We care about our citizens and are working to give them a voice in various ways, including the development of community websites and other initiatives.
You can find out more about any of the subjects mentioned on this page - and many other initiatives - by opening the links on the left hand side of this page.
