    Closed on Wednesday 7 January 2026
    Closure reason: Due to an unexpected heating failure, New Park Academy Junior School will be partially closed on Wednesday, 7th January 2026. We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience this may cause to pupils and families. We expect the necessary repairs to be completed by the end of the day and anticipate that the school will reopen as usual for all pupils on Thursday, 8th January 2026. If this situation changes, we will be in touch as soon as possible. Thank you for your understanding and patience.

Finding out more

Each school has their own procedures for notifying parents of a school closure, including the use of a text messaging service that will notify parents if a school will be closing. Details of emergency school closures and openings will also be aired on local radio stations. Schools have also been given access to update this page with any closure details.

Please note, the decision to close a school unexpectedly is made by the school. In all cases schools will seek to avoid a closure unless they are absolutely necessary.
