Becoming a member
Membership is open to any person who is not less than eleven years of age, who completes an application for membership in the form required by the Board of Directors and who; use the Society's facilities or has an interest in sport, leisure, arts or culture (a Community Member); or is employed by the Society or any subsidiary society or company, or is a registered volunteer (a staff member). Members are entitled to receive information about the Society and its business, as provided in the rules. Members have a voice in the Society's affairs as provided in the rules, by attending, speaking and submitting motions to be considered at Members Meetings; voting at Members Meetings and electing representatives to the forum (the forum represents members and the comunity within the Society, and is a link between the Community and the Board of Directors).
What members can do
Members can attend members meetings, receive information about SCL, vote in the election of Board Members, seek nomination for serving on the Board, and take part in the other member activities which SCL provides.
Members meetings
Each year, there is an annual members' meeting, at which the Board reports on what happened in the latest financial year, presents the forward plans for future years, and at which the results of elections are announced. Additionally, there are occasional special members meetings, to make major decisions about SCL in areas such as making changes to the constitution
