Take the plunge!

Swimming is one of those unique forms of exercise that can be enjoyed by everyone regardless of age or ability. It is great fun and has many health benefits, read on to find out more.

As the water takes your weight, swimming is great for those who want a low impact exercise. For example pregnant women, people with mobility problems or those who want to protect their joints. However, it is also a great calorie burner and can really help to maintain a healthy weight.

Swimming is great for all-over body toning and is also good for your circulation as your heart is being required to pump blood to every area of your body. It can also have great psychological benefits taking you away from the pressures of everyday life.

Whether you want to just swim or get fit in the pool, Salford Community Leisure has six pools across the city offering a varied programme of activities such as:

There are also plenty of opportunities for young people in Salford to learn how to swim. Go to the swimming scheme page for more details.

Additionally, Fit City Broughton Pool has sauna facilities and Fit City Worsley has sauna and steam facilities making your visit even more relaxing. For more information on your nearest facility please go to our Fit City centres and pools page.
