The role of Overview and Scrutiny is to look at the services and issues that affect the lives of people in Salford.

It's about listening to the concerns of local people and to check how the council and other organisations are performing and where necessary seek improvement.

Respect Agenda Commission The commission is currently in the process of identifying funding streams to enable parenting programmes to be carried out. The next meeting is to be arranged.

Availability of NHS Dentists and Oral Health in Salford

The sub group will be looking at the availability of NHS dentists in Salford and the oral health message that is given by council partners and dentists. The next meeting is to be confirmed
Strategic Housing and Planning Sub Group This remit of this sub group is to consider planning documents for the city and to carry out independent benchmarking of strategic housing services The next meeting will take place on Wednesday 3rd December at 2.00pm
Corporate Parenting The report from this piece of work has been produced and members are currently monitoring the actions, taken in response to the recommendations in the report. The Corporate Parenting report will be discussed at Children's Services Scrutiny on Wednesday 10 December.
Crime and Disorder The panel will be considering the 'Respect Agenda' (Salford's action plan). The next meeting is to be confirmed
Regeneration The panel is currently looking at regeneration issues in Salford. The next meeting is to be confirmed
Other pieces of work Latest developments What's next?
Cycle Forum The forum are considering cycle parking provisions across the city for current and proposed cycle routes. The next meeting will be held on Thursday 12 February.
Cycling Commission The commission has been set up to look at the possibility of creating a cycling officer post to promote cycling in Salford The next meeting is to be confirmed
Allotments The Environment, Housing and Planning Scrutiny are looking into issues raised by the public in relation to allotments. The next meeting is to be agreed. Officers will report back on the Draft Strategy.
