Distance learning opportunities
Can you commit to one hour a week?
If you have limited time but would still like to undertake some learning modules, then these courses are for you. They are open to all partners and particularly relevant to night staff and personal assistants who may find it difficult accessing traditional routes for training.
The courses are fully funded, and allow learners to work at their own pace with individual support from experienced trainers. Learners can build a portfolio and all courses are certificated.
About distance learning:
- Learning materials are paper based and carried out by completing workbooks
- Learning is transferred to the employees location, rather than the employee moving to the location of the learning provider
- Enables employees to fit learning around their home and work life
- Suitable for those people who are nervous about learning in a classroom environment or whose work may make it difficult to attend this kind of learning, such as remote or night workers and personal assistants.
Learning format:
- Learners are provided with a workbook to complete as they go along
- Multiple choice activity questions
- At the end of each section employees must complete an assessment which is sent to their Tutor to be marked
- Course will indicate when training involves a practical element and additional training needs to be organised
The course will involve:
- Initial group induction - including college enrolment (approximately 45 minutes to take place either on-site or remotely via telephone, depending on numbers)
- Individual support (via remote tutorials) to provide you with correct learning aims, guidance and feedback throughout the course
- Recommended minimum time of one hour per week for learning
