Leadership and management
It was recognised in the Department of Health document, Putting People First (2007), that its vision for services will only be realised if there is effective leadership and management, both of current services and in the wider transformation agenda.
Social care agencies therefore need to ensure that their leaders and managers are competent and confident to meet both their current operational responsibilities and the challenges of evolving services.
Visit the Skills for Care website for more information on their leadership and management strategy and to download a range of products designed to support managers.
Management induction standards
The standards are for all 'new' managers of adult social care, that's those new to management and those new in post who have previously managed other care services. They are also intended for aspiring or potential managers, to help support their development.
However, we encourage all managers, whether new in post or not, to assess their practice against these competencies. Managers will then be able to identify potential development needs as well as ensuring that they are consistently working towards the required standards.
Leadership and management qualifications
Subject to funding and availability, the partnership currently offer the Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care.
