National Minimum Data Set for social care

The National Minimum Data Set for social care (NMDS-SC) is an agreed set of questions designed to ensure that every social care employer provides information on their workforce in a consistent format across the country.

The NMDS-SC data will influence future funding for Salford including money for training programmes.

In addition partners who hold a National Minimum Data Set - Social Care reference number as a result of having completed the National Minimum Data Set - Social Care questionnaire before 1 April 2011 must fully update their establishment data before accessing training. This can be done via the National Minimum Data Set - Social Care website.

Employee data inputting is particularly important and you need to be 90% compliant to access Skills for Care funding for training.

The indicator for counting organisational input is set to zero at the end of March each year. Therefore if you complete in the latter months of the year, e.g February or March you may think you are up to date, but will not be counted as compliant in April. Please remember that all organisations must be 90 per cent compliant or funding will not be able to be accessed.

A report has been designed to help establishments identify and complete any missing data items in their NMDS-SC worker records. You can find this report by logging onto NMDS-SC using your usual login details. Choose 'reports' on left hand side of navigation bar and then in the body of the page choose 'my worker list' then click 'run report'.

If you have any queries about National Minimum Data Set - Social Care please contact the National Minimum Data Set - Social Care helpdesk on 0845 8730129.

For any organisation who has not yet completed, or requires further support, please email Joy.Cooper@salford.gov.uk.
