Pre-employment training in social care
The pre-employment course for people who:
- Have been thinking about working in care but are not sure what opportunities are open to them
- Would like to return to work but are unsure about what sort of job they could do
- Are already in work, but wish their job was more satisfying
- Have been trying to get a job in care but have not yet been successful
- Are looking for a new direction and want to make a difference
- Want a career that will keep you interested throughout their working life, but are not sure where to start
The course gives all the grounding for working in the Health and Social Care profession and can lead to jobs and/or apprenticeships.
The programme is varied and interesting and includes:
- Roles and responsibilities of care worker
- Communication written, verbal and body language
- Inspirational speakers from various care settings
- Information advice and guidance - career pathways
- Assisting individuals to eat and drink
- First aid course
- Moving and handling course
- Food safety course
- Protecting individuals from abuse
- Record keeping, report writing
- Completing an application form
- Mock interviews
