Secondary admissions timetable

The secondary admissions process follows a strict timetable with set deadlines that allow Salford Local Authority (LA) to offer your child a single secondary school place on 1 March 2012.

The timetable is as follows:

1. Application packs sent to parents: Beginning of Autumn Term 2011
2. Closing date for preference forms: 31 October 2011 
3. LA sends applications for schools in other LAs to those LAs:  November 2011
4. LA sends applications to aided schools and city academies:  November 2011
5. Responses from aided schools and city academies:  December 2011
6. LAs to notify other LAs of first cycle places to be offered:  January 2012
7. Home LA sorts results of first cycle, sends results to other LAs: January 2012
8. LA sorts results and notifies other LAs of second cycle offers:  February 2012
9. Home LA sorts results of second cycle: February 2012
10. Schools informed by own LA of final results. Offers made to parents by LA: 1 March 2012
